Full course description
Learners will participate in a fully precepted experience – a total of 80 hours of practical, hands-on experience over a 2-week period where they will practice using the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the role of an Operating Room assistant, applying principles of medical and surgical asepsis while exploring the Operating Room environment and interdisciplinary team member roles. Students will demonstrate safe patient transfer and positioning techniques, prepare and maintain the sterile field, clean, prepare and handle surgical instruments, and perform post-procedure cleaning while ensuring privacy and confidentiality.
