Full course description
Pharmacology provides a description of the pharmaceuticals used in an operating room setting and identifies the role of nerve pathways in the action of drugs. The course blends audio/video lectures, interactive discussion and tab work to teach essential knowledge about medications in the procedural care environments like operating rooms. They will also be introduced to key concepts including medication safety systems, healthcare policy & regulation, procedural communication standards and professionalism. Learning will be applied and assessed during an in-person laboratory day designed to reinforce learning, practice skills and ensure competency in essential medication related tasks working as an Operating Room Assistant.
