Full course description

Study of the basic principles of ultrasound physics and instrumentation, including basic sound concepts, sound and tissue interaction, image acquisition/storage, beam formation, Doppler modes, and image interpretation.  Investigate critical equipment and workplace safety elements, to support the safe practice of ultrasound for technologists, and for patients. Knowledge and skills learned from this course are integral for a complete understanding and optimization in various modes of imaging and appropriate, safe application of diagnostic ultrasound in a clinical environment.  Students will apply knowledge and skills from this course throughout future courses, their clinical practicum and as professionals in the field.
